Art Liestman has made available for download from his website his article
"Enhancing Highly Figured Wood with Acrylics".
Intro:
I have been using acrylic paint in a variety of ways on my turned objects for over twenty years.
One of my favorites is to use acrylics to accentuate the grain in highly figured hardwoods, as
shown in the opening image. I often use big leaf maple because it is locally available for me,
is light in color, and it can have excellent burl, curl, or quilt figure. The technique described
here should work on any species of wood and be particularly dramatic for light-colored woods.
