Dates: Sat 18th, Sun 19th and Sat 25th April
Hrs: 9:15am to 4:00pm
Instructor: Claudia Hayward

Intro to Bowl Turning is a 3-day hands-on skills-based course focused on teaching the basic techniques for faceplate turning, with a focus on bowls. You will be introduced to
• the principal tools used for faceplate turning and how to sharpen them.
• alternative ways for preparing and mounting bowl blanks on a lathe
• cuts used to shape the outside and inside of bowls

This is not intended to be a project course, so you won’t make anything specifically other than lots of wood shavings. The key takeaways from these 3 days will be knowledge and tool-handling skills you can take back to your own shop to turn bowls and perform other faceplate work safely and with confidence.
